a filmmaker and musician
The human body outstretches the depths of where the mind can go. As a director, I see the importance of showing every twitch, hair flick, and stride that one has to offer. The performance one puts on in their everyday life becomes so fascinating to me. I enjoy focusing on performance, movement, blocking, and the life of a person, rather than an overarching tantalizing story. I prefer the slice of life feeling that comes from seeing someone just like you and I.
I’ve been an actor my entire life, whether it began at the age of six in a theatrical production of Annie, or at the age of three when my brother and his friends made me act in their camcorder Youtube videos. I have always been inspired to perform, my mother is an actor and director, my father has always played the drums my entire life, I’ve had a family around me who has shown me what creativity truly is. My lifelong work as an actor has made the transition into filmmaking easier, while definitely not easy by any means. I had barely any interaction with a camera prior to the age of 18, but what I have always known is performance. Being able to direct talent has almost come as second nature, my experience has instilled into me what I know can achieve the best performance possible.
I’m thankful to those who have helped me, my family, friends, professors, strangers, and enemies alike, they have helped form me into who I am and what I make. I am an amalgam of everyone who came before me, and I am grateful to be able to tell my story, as well as help bring theirs to life.
I sit and watch the Truman Show in awe of its storytelling capabilities. I shed a few tears to Marcel The Shell With Shoes On. I revel and embrace the homoerotic nature of Y Tu Mama Tambien. My work is inspired from a variety of sources, but I want to break past those sources and make something that is true to who I am. As a young filmmaker, my goal is to bring a new vision as to what we are capable of. I want to focus on the human experience and all of the intricacies that it provides. I am passionate about creativity and originality and I believe the strength in a story is how much effort is put into it and I am willing to give everything.
